Last night! What a game it was. The Tatties took an early lead which the Mincers pulled back and then took the lead themselves. The Tatties then drew level and it stayed that way, one up, one down, 'til 6-6 which was only about 15 minutes from time.
A couple of solo genius goals from Tatties captain Stu put them into a two goal lead with only 5 minutes remaining. Had The Field Marshal done enough to secure victory? It looked that way as the Mincers could find no way to get the ball in the back of the net. Foxy's head began to drop but luckily for him, his team's did not.
They grabbed one back and the next moment it was level! Foxy looked like a new man and quickly took the goal that put his team into the lead. Full time was approaching but with no sight of the next game, play continued. Was there time for the Tatties to scrape a draw which would seal Stuart's position at the top of the table?
Unfortunately, no. The Mincers, inspired by Foxy's winning goal, went on to slot a couple more past the tiring Tatties defense. The Tatties rallied briefly but one more goal finished the game off before the inevitable pitch invasion.
Last night was an outstanding game with everyone involved giving it maximum effort and, as your manager, I'm very proud of my players! Well played to Foxy who battled hard in the second half of the season to just pinch it from Stuart in the last game.
Commiserations to the Boy Stu who has been exceptional this season with some brilliant individual goals all over the place (what about that left foot peg from no where last night?), as well as a great passing game. Bring on next year!
