Like the metaphorical swinging pendulum

A late start made me think the game would be played at a canter as some energy was used up in the short delay before player number ten tore onto the pitch. He blamed an accident on his late arrival, and that he appeared to be wiping some ominous-looking red fluid from his hands as he ran on made me question him no further.
And then the mighty battled ensued. A quick lead was grabbed, then cancelled out, then regained and extended. It looked like the blues would run away with it until Foxy and Stuart started pinging in goals from distance to catch up and eventually put five white noses in front.
This clearly upset the blues who decided to do something I have heard of before called 'passing' and 'shooting' and 'scoring'. Some fine saves combined with equal measures of sublime and woeful shots at both ends of the pitch meant it was always going to be close from then on. It ended with the whites just holding onto a lead until the big boys came on and threw us off pitch six. A good game, but I am really tired now.
